Surely you want to defend yourself from demons with a punch, and that is why you have chosen the Monk as your starting class in Diablo Immortal. The start is pretty straightforward, and you won’t get lost, but after a few minutes, you’ll start to have more skills than you need to use them. It would help if you chose well.
A bit later, if you’re lucky, you’ll find your first legendary items, making things a bit more complicated. Here we bring you a relatively simple first build, with the skills we recommend you use and the most useful legendary items during the leveling phase.
The Skill Rotation: Pull enemies in with Cyclone Strike, inflict Explosive Palm on them, then detonate everything with Heptagonal Strike. Defeat Survivors with Fists of Thunder.
Remember to improve your equipment as much as possible. Even if it is not legendary, you can transfer all this to the new items you will find and equip later. It’s unlikely you’ll find all of these items while leveling up, but they can sometimes justify changing a skill.
Head: Crippling Insight – Exploding Palm stack count is increased by 1.
Torso: Breath of Incense – activates Explosive Palm when Heptagonal Strike kills a bleeding enemy.
Shoulders: Discipline’s Weight – Increases Heptagonal Strike damage by 10%.
Legs: Path of the storm – Cyclone Strike reduces damage taken by 20% for a duration.
Primary Weapon: Dragon’s Indignation – Heptagonal Strike continuously burns enemies.
Off Hand – Battle Pass Rank 10 gives you a choice between various legendaries. On offhand, we recommend you go for Eye of the Storm, and it increases the Cyclone Strike range by 20%. Some more aggressive players may prefer Reaching Rebuke – Explosive Palm pushes you forward and attacks enemies with a giant palm, but the cooldown is increased.
Focus on damage (tourmaline, red gem) and armor penetration (sapphire, blue gem).
Unless you invest large sums of real money, you won’t get many chances to choose your legendary gems or optimize them during the leveling phase. Use the ones you find at the moment.
General Monk Tips
Monk is a class that offers a lot of control of enemies in area damage, which makes him a desirable member of groups. Still, he manages to give buffs and shields to allies in this context, which makes him even more beloved by players. He is one of the few characters who has almost unrestricted mobility. It is highly dependent on cooldowns, and you need to master this aspect well so that you don’t spend long periods with anything to do. Other than this lore point, his weakness is that he doesn’t deal as much damage to single targets.
How to level up from Monk
The tip is valid for any Diablo Immortal class: do the story missions until you get to a point where you need to fulfill some requirements to progress. Generally, this requirement is about having reached a certain level, so we recommend completing Battle Pass missions, which offer a lot of experience. This would be the fastest way to level up, but it’s not necessarily the most interesting.
If you’re looking for a more fluid experience, we recommend sticking with the story quests and embarking on optional activities whenever they arise, which include dungeons and lairs. That way, the chance of you getting to crash at a certain point is lower, and the game flow becomes more natural.
